Eric J. Hill is Professor of Practice in Architecture, teaching the core course in Professional Practice and a design fundamentals course in Architectural Ethics. He received his Bachelor of Arts and PhD degrees in architecture from the University of Pennsylvania and his professional Masters in Architecture degree from Harvard University's Graduate School of Design. As a Marshall Fellow, he conducted advanced research in urban design at the Danish Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen.

As a principal with Lord Aeck Sargent Architecture, Hill directs its Ann Arbor office, which specializes in design for higher education and historic preservation. Previously he was Director of Urban Design and Planning with Albert Kahn Associates, where significant area projects included the Detroit Opera House restoration, the renovation of Grand Circus Park, the Detroit Riverfront Promenade, the Wayne State University 2020 Campus Master Plan, and the transformation of the former General Motors Building into Cadillac Place.

Professor Hill is a registered architect, certified by the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards, and a LEED Accredited Professional, US Green Building Council.

Hill is a member of American Institute of Architects and has been elected to AIA's College of Fellows, and is a past recipient of the Gold Medal from the Detroit Chapter, AIA. He has served as Intern Development Coordinator for Detroit, the State of Michigan and the University of Michigan. He is a past board member of AIA Detroit, AIA Michigan, and the Michigan Architectural Foundation.
